JASON SHORR

Jason is a Pittsburgh based artist and public-school art educator residing in Zelienople. His work is based on overlapping imagery that becomes a paradox between layers. Themes such as anatomy, pop culture references, mythology, and personal experiences populate his art allowing the work to reflect a deep personal meaning to the artist as well as allow the viewer the chance to interpret the imagery.

“My artwork is configured through the mixture of both the representations of the flesh, which determine our form, and the experiences that create who we are.  The structures within my work have both physical as well as symbolic meaning.  Many of the anatomical illustrations and pop cultural references represent people or experiences within my life that have helped me to form who I have become.  I hope by viewing these pieces you can relate them to experiences you have had and reflect on your own physical and spiritual configuration.”

Jason’s work can be found in private collections as well as owned by the Eaton Corporation and UPMC. Jason’s solo shows include Box Heart Gallery, Moxie Dada Gallery, JMS Gallery in Philadelphia, Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in Harrisburg and with the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh. His works have also been shown at Studio RAW and The McGowan Institute of Regenerative Medicine. Jason is a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh.
